Data subscriptions

Remote CMS devices can be subscribed to specialised "data" sources. Data sources can be created from a locally connected device, a remotely connected device, or an online source. Data sources are available to all devices connected to your Remote CMS account.

  1. Data subscriptions are listed in this panel, as well as information about when the data was last updated and a preview for the most recent data entry.
  2. The subscribed data type is displayed here
  3. The date and time of the most recent data update is displayed here. Click the date to expand a list of the most recent ten entries
  4. A formatted preview of the data is shown here.

The following are examples of data sources:

Switch

Anything that has an "on" or "off" state. This could be a wall switch, height sensor, movement sensor, alarm connection, light sensor etc. These are just a few examples of an on or off state that can be subscribed to, which can trigger an event on your RemoteCMS device.

Counter

Anything that counts. This can be a parking counter, item counter, game score input, etc. The count value can be displayed on a media device, or used to trigger an event on your RemoteCMS device.

Variables

Variables are a list of values (numbers, text, etc.) that are updated from a connected system. This can be from installed hardware (i.e., with a serial interface), a remote online system or a web API source. These variables are typically embedded in display media, but can also be used to trigger events on your Remote CMS device.

Weather

Live weather data can be subscribed to, which can be used to display current temperatures, the day's minimums and maximums, humidity, short descriptions, graphical icons, daily forecasts, etc. This data can also be used to trigger events on your RemoteCMS device, for example by displaying particular content on hot days.

Other

New types of data are being added all the time that can be subscribed to. Some examples are lightning vicinity alerts, cyclone alerts, tide levels, wind speed, security systems, amber alerts, RSS feeds, social media, and more!
